Terms of Service

By purchasing a license or accessing The Beauty API dataset, you agree to the following terms.

1. License Grant

Subject to payment, The Beauty API grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, worldwide commercial license to use the dataset (the “Data”) for:

  • Powering e-commerce storefronts and mobile applications.
  • Internal Research & Development (R&D).
  • Training machine learning and AI models.

2. Strict Restrictions

To protect the integrity of our product, you strictly agree NOT to:

  • Redistribute, sublicense, or resell the raw dataset files (CSV, JSONL, SQLite, or Image archives) to any third party.
  • Create a competing “Data-as-a-Service” or API product that serves the raw data provided in this bundle.
  • Publicly host the raw database in a way that allows others to download the full archive.

3. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability

3.1 “As-Is” Provision

The Data is provided on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of completeness, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose.

3.2 Medical and Health Information Disclaimer

The ingredient data, safety ratings (including comedogenicity and irritancy scores), and functional categorizations provided by The Beauty API are strictly for informational, educational, and developmental purposes. This Data is not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, nor does it constitute dermatological or therapeutic advice.

3.3 Product Recommendations and Algorithms

Any product recommendations, compatibility scores, or ingredient suggestions built using our Data are inherently algorithmic. They are based on generalized research patterns and do not account for individual allergies, medical conditions, or skin sensitivities. The Data does not guarantee the safety, efficacy, or suitability of any cosmetic formulation for any specific individual.

3.4 Allergen and Safety Detection Limitations

While our database incorporates quantitative safety ratings, The Beauty API makes no guarantee regarding the complete detection of all potential allergens, irritants, or harmful ingredients. Furthermore, the Data cannot accurately predict or identify cross-reactivity between combined ingredients. End-users of applications built using our Data assume all risks associated with using physical skincare products.

4. Indemnification

By using The Beauty API dataset to power public-facing applications, storefronts, or tools, you assume full responsibility for how the Data is presented to your end-users. You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless The Beauty API (and its founders, officers, and agents) from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or legal expenses arising out of:

  • Any adverse health effects, allergic reactions, or skin damage experienced by end-users relying on recommendations powered by our Data.
  • Your failure to adequately disclose medical disclaimers to your end-users.
  • Any violation of these Terms by you or your organization.

5. Payments & Refunds

Due to the digital nature of the product (instant download of 20GB+ of data), all sales are final. We provide a 1000-product sample pack to ensure the format meets your technical requirements before purchase.

6. Updates & Refreshes

A standard license covers the current snapshot of the Data. Subsequent major version updates may require a “refresh” fee at a discounted rate for existing licensees.

7. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Singapore. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Singapore.
